LT MUSEUM – EFE ROAD COMMISSIONED DMS1 – UPDATE
Towards the end of April, an article in the LT Museum Friends magazine advertised two EFE Road commissioned models of DMS1 for pre-order. Since that date the LT Museum Shop website has been shown as offline for maintenance. I wrote to the Museum asking how to order the models and received the below reply today:

“Our online shop is currently offline while we complete work on a new website platform, so unfortunately, we’re not able to take orders remotely at the moment. We’re aiming to have the site back up and running in the coming weeks, although we can’t confirm a specific date just yet.”

“Regarding the new commissioned EFE Road DMS 1 model, we’re currently hoping it will be available around June/July. At this stage we’re not offering pre orders. Once the models arrive in stock, they’ll be sold through our Covent Garden shop, and we’re also hoping the new website will be live in time for them to be available online again”.

GALLERY PHOTOGRAPHS OF TWO BUSES RECENTLY RELEASED IN MODEL FORM
Courtesy of Bob Belcher, please see photographs of two buses recently released in model form by EFE Road.

Leyland Atlantean open top 932GTA “Earl Howe” was photographed on 22 August 2025 in Weymouth and is seen as modelled in Devon General livery as represented as one of the two models in EFE Road Gift Set GS99945 (40501).

Leyland Atlantean open top MSJ499 (Ex 925GTA) was photographed at the Plymouth Bus Rally on 27th July 2008. This bus was represented in model form in the traditional Devon General livery as EFE Road model 40702 but is shown here at a different time in its life in Bournemouth Transport livery (perhaps a future model livery??).

NEW DMS AND ‘DENNIS’ MODELS FROM EFE ROAD
The following press release has been received this morning from EFE Road:

Today (Wednesday 6 th May 2026) Bachmann Europe Plc has unveiled five new 1:76 scale Daimler Fleetline DMS buses as part of its growing EFE Road range of diecast collectables. The announcement was made as part of Bachmann’s Summer British Railway Announcements. The Daimler Fleetline DMS had its origins in a nationwide move towards One-Man Operation (OMO) buses in the late 1960s and early 1970s, replacing the tried-and-tested ‘driver and conductor’ crews that had been the staple for many years. London Transport (LT) was no exception, and as such began to explore the benefits that OMO might bring by trialling Leyland Atlanteans and Daimler Fleetlines. It was the latter that would go on to form the basis of an all new London bus – the DMS.

The first of the new DMSs entered service in January 1971 working on Routes 95 and 220. They were powered by Gardner 6LXB engines and bodied by Park Royal Vehicles, with full OMO considerations included. Passengers would enter through a set of double folding doors at the front, opposite the driver, and immediately pass through an Automatic Fare-Collection (AFC) turnstile (located over the nearside front wheel arch) to gain access to the seating. Exit was via a second set of doors located centrally on the nearside of the body.Building on the popularity of the ‘Routemaster’ tag, London Transport named the new type the ‘Londoner’, but it never caught on, and they were simply referred to as Fleetlines or DMSs. A total of 2,646 would be built between 1970 and 1978; the design evolving during that time, culminating in the B20 type. However, the DMS was never popular with passengers owing to the slower boarding times caused by the AFC equipment, and they proved equally unpopular with garage staff, so much so that the first started to be withdrawn the year after the last was delivered.

The new models are based on EFE Road’s updated Daimler Fleetline DMS tooling and feature the early style front end for the first time on an EFE DMS model; identified by the narrower position of the headlights. They are:
E43001 - Daimler Fleetline DMS115 London Transport Route 170 Aldwych
This model depicts DMS115, which is presented in its original condition, as working on Route 170 to Aldwych circa 1971 at the time it was allocated to Wandsworth garage. As prototypical at the time it sports the ‘open’ style of LT roundel, and is complete with the coin in slot emblems on the front end and PAY AS YOU ENTER notifications.

E43002 - Daimler Fleetline DMS146 London Transport Route 267 Hampton Court Stn}
Our model represents Fulwell garage’s DMS146, another ‘open’ roundel DMS, but this time carrying the white band applied to later examples in this batch, which helped break up the wall of red. The model is depicted as working a Route 267 service to Hampton Court Station.

E43003 - Daimler Fleetline DMS141 London Transport Route 46 Farringdon Street
This model depicts Abbey District’s DMS141 in its early 1980s condition, as working on Route 46 to Farringdon Street during the time it was allocated to Chalk Farm garage. It is complete with highly visible yellow front entrance doors.

E43004 - Daimler Fleetline DMS46 London Transport Route 95 Cannon Street
Next, we have DMS46, which in 1974 was the first example to receive the white window surrounds on the upper deck, creating a very pleasing appearance. Our model depicts it as working out of Brixton garage around 1976 on Route 95 with a Cannon Street destination.

E43005 - Daimler Fleetline DMS Brighton Corporation 91 Driver Trainer
The last of the DMSs in this announcement is the former DMS132 in its post-London guise as Brighton Corporation No. 91. This vehicle was acquired to serve as a driver trainer, and for many years could be seen around the south coast resort as a mobile recruitment advert. It survives today with the Bromley Bus Preservation Group.

The five models are expected to reach retailers during late July/early August 2026 and have an RRP of £46.95.

In addition to the above, EFE Road has worked with London Transport Museum to produce two additional exclusive edition DMSs based on the same tooling. These are both of the pioneer
example, DMS1, as follows:
E43006Y - Daimler Fleetline DMS1 London Transport Route 220 Park Royal
E43006Z - Daimler Fleetline DMS1 London Transport Route 220 Tooting Stn
See www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk for more information about these two models.

But that’s not all from EFE Road this time, as we are delighted to present a very special new announcement. This year celebrates 75 years since that most beloved of comic book characters, Dennis the Menace, made his first appearance in the Beano. To commemorate the anniversary, we have teamed up with Beano Studios and DC Thomson to create a special 75th Anniversary bus for this year of mischief, and what better bus to use as a basis than a Dennis Dart SLF/Pointer 2!
E36720 - Dennis Dart SLF/Pointer 2 Dennis the Menace 75th Anniversary Special
This unique and fully licensed collectors piece features authentic Dennis & Gnasher artworks, and is complete with an appropriate service 75 destination serving Bash Street School and Beanotown. It comes in a special presentation display case with a bespoke sleeve design based on Dennis’s iconic black and red striped jumper. These limited edition ‘Dennis on a Dennis’ Darts have an RRP of £59.95 and will be arriving with Bachmann stockists later this year.

Details on where to find Bachmann stockists can be found online at news.bachmann.co.uk/finda-retailer/

NORTHCORD MODEL COMPANY - PRESS RELEASE
The following press release was received from the Northcord Model Company on Thursday 30th April. Apologies for the late publication, but I was out of the Country on holiday when the news was received. Please see a selection of photographs taken by me of the model.

UKBUS6546 ADL Enviro400 MMC - National Express West Midlands

Following the significant success in launching the brand new casting of the Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC model in the liveries of National Express West Midlands, Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, Bluestar, Stagecoach West Scotland, Southern Vectis, Stagecoach South, Ensign Bus, Xplore Dundee, Stagecoach North West, Go North East, Stagecoach North Scotland, Go South Coast, Reading Buses, Greater Manchester Bee Network, McGill’s Bluebird, East Yorkshire, Newcastle Busways and Stagecoach Yorkshire and Thames Valley Buses, Northcord Model Company is now releasing the thirty first livery on the 10.9 metre long, single-door casting – UKBUS6546, which is National Express West Midlands, carrying the vintage Birmingham City Transport livery with National Express West Midlands fleet name on the front panel and on the upper rear window.

The model as replicated is National Express West Midlands 6148 (SN15LHV) on route 11A to Acocks Green with ‘via Kings Heath’ carried in the front destination.

6148 was new to Yardley Wood garage in May 2015. It was repainted into retro Birmingham City Transport livery, including trademark khaki roof, in August 2024.

Although appearing to be a manufacturing error, the lack of the blue pinstripe within the advert frames on the upper panelling is a feature that is replicated correctly from the 1:1 scale version.

This is the third NMC model carrying a classic West Midlands livery. The first one is UKBUS9501 Scania OmniCity double-deck model that replicated 4780 (BU08EHZ) in West Midlands PTE livery on route 67 to Birmingham. The UKBUS9501 model was launched in August 2023. The second one is UKBUS6205 Alexander Dennis Enviro400 model that replicated 4722 (BU07LGY) in Birmingham City Transport livery on route 18 to Yardley Wood. The UKBUS6205 model was launched in September 2024.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC UKBUS6546 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square, gasket-mounted windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UKBUS6546 model is its tree protector at the front. The front dome on the model is significant, with curved windscreens on both upper deck and lower deck.

Northcord Model Company is also creating new design standards within the interior of both saloons. These features, inside the compartments, will represent the real, outstanding layout of the Enviro400 MMC, such as the extensive portrayal of handrails on upper deck and lower deck, etc.

The brand new 10.9 metre Enviro400 MMC bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), 80M Bus Model Shop (Hong Kong) respectively. The UKBUS6546 model is limited to 1008 pieces worldwide.

IWAN’S BUS BITS
I am occasionally contacted by visitors to this website and my Facebook Page, asking where they can purchase spares such as windscreen wipers and mirrors for their models. I have accidentally damaged the occasional mirror in the past and I know how frustrating it can be especially if the part is damaged beyond repair. I have recently been contacted by Iwan Jones ( one of the Team behind Model Buses Creations) asking if I can publish the below update about his spares business, Iwan’s Bus Bits:

“Iwan’s Bus Bits was started in 2014 through the need of spare parts for my own model buses. After searching for a supplier I was able to purchase a large stock of Creative Master Northcord spares, which I was able to sell to other model bus collectors who needed to fix broken models.

Fast forward to 2021 where the opportunity came up to purchase more CMNL model bus spares. This time I wanted to sell other model bus spares too. Over the past 5 years we have added Britbus Omnidekka and Olympian spares joined the range, along with some Northcord Model Company spares too for the new Enviro 400 MMC along with the Enviro 400 classic and Scania OmniCity DD models. These have been some of the most popular parts.
Iwan’s Bus Bits is always expanding its range and more recently I have added Model Buses Creations Enviro 200 and the Dublin Bus Enviro 500 model parts to the existing range. I also have a small range of Corgi and Hong Kong specific bus parts. I often buy collections of used spare for strip broken buses, these spares are always changing.

Iwan’s Bus Bits celebrates 5 years this year, it’s been an amazing journey and I would like to thank every single person who has purchased spares or who have sent an inquiry for spares. I am hoping the next 5 years IBB will continue to grow with more new spares and also develop new 3D printed spares as well. I would also like to thank Model Buses Creations who have supported and promoted IBB over the last 5 years.
Please keep following our Facebook page and see our full spares range on our website www.iwansbusbits.co.uk

MODEL BUS CREATIONS THREE UPDATES
In the past 24 hours, Model Buses Creations have published three news updates, including news of two new tooling’s, an Easter update and a Corgi Superloop update. Please see details and photographs below:

Model Buses Creations Tooling Announcement
"Earlier in the year when we announcement our 2026 range, we teased a new tooling announcement and now the time has come to reveal what this tooling is. We have been working hard with our production partner 80m in Hong Kong, factories in China, vehicle manufacturers and UK bus operators. We thought long and hard about which would be the right vehicle to invest in, which was represented around the UK, which would also be popular with enthusiasts and collectors alike. In the end it was just too hard to choose just one vehicle to sit alongside our current Enviro 200 and Scania OmniCity DD tooling, so we chose two vehicles…

We have decided that the two new models joining the MBC range will be….

The Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 City BYD EV and the Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 EV (New generation)

These will be two brand new exclusive tooling sets which will allow us to develop a range of vehicles from around the UK including a London and provincial specifications. The tooling will also allow as many different variants as possible including staircase windows, roof skylights and different wheel bases.

Once again we have been working with some of the UK’s biggest bus operators and we have listened to their feedback on a new model bus tooling. Electric vehicles are now becoming common place on the streets of the UK and now most bus fleets contain at least one version of an electric bus. We have also spoken to a large number of enthusiasts and collectors who are looking for more modern vehicles to add to collections and fleets. We would like to thank Alexander Dennis for support with these projects, along with all the bus operators we are currently working with.

More details will be coming over the coming weeks and months but we wanted to leave you with something really exciting for the bank holiday weekend. Full announcement and detail including pricing and Pre Ordering will be at The Brooklands Spring Gathering on 19th April and online here.

Please keep watching our social media for more news!

Our full product update on our E200 Long release, Corgi Superloop release and our Diplomat arrival date will be updated this weekend.

Many Thanks

Mark, Iwan and Alex"

Model Buses Creations Corgi Update
"The two Corgi Superloop buses have been progressing over the last couple of months, we have focused our time on the vehicle drawings and box designs, making sure they are correct and match the real vehicles. We also wanted the boxes to replicate the real vehicle livery as much as possible, but also pair nicely with our Northcord E400 MMC Superloop model, which we released earlier. We have seen some delays over the last few months with factory changes at Corgi, this has caused delays with the samples and confirming finer model details, which we hope to share very soon.

For those who may have missed our last update, the details for the two vehicles are below and can also share the model codes allocated to each bus.

Model Bus Creations Easter Update
"We would like to share some product updates for our 2026 Release plans. After reading and listening to the various comments and opinions from some of the hobby voices, a discussion on prices and the cost of goods is something we pay particular attention too, we will always aim to bring value and quality to all of our products, as production, shipping and all other costs continue to sky rocket and we will always aim to keep our releases at our recommended retail price. Our Pre order service does offer additional value and our payment options continue to help spread the cost at no interest charged.
