ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH BUSES - ATLAS EDITIONS EDDIE STOBART COLLECTION
In the absence of any bus news this evening I thought I would bring some news and a few photographs from one of my other passions - Eddie Stobart. No doubt this will be of interest to a number of visitors to the site.

Atlas Editions announced at the beginning of the year that they would be releasing a series of Eddie Stobart models. The first two have now arrived and feature modern vehicles, the third release will feature an older vehicle. Both of the models have been produced by Oxford Diecast for Atlas Editions and unlike the buses they do easily remove from the black base. I have been very pleasantly surprised by the standard of quality of the first two models which is significantly better than the first few bus releases. The only down side for me is Atlas posting in the usual flimsy plastic bags that they post their buses in. The boxes for the models have been produced to mimic the lorry trailer of the model (as can be seen in one of the photographs below) unfortunately the box that I have photographed has been badly damaged in the post (this cannot be seen in the photograph) and Atlas agreed to send a replacement model when I phoned them. The second models box has also been damaged but less so. When will they learn and package things properly so that do not get damaged in the post!

Finally the first two models are heavily discounted and come with loads of freebies as did the bus series. The normal price for each model in the remainder of the series will be about £20.00. I do not know at this stage if all the models will be produced by Oxford Diecast or if they will all be 1:76th scale as per the first two.

EFE SUBSCRIBER MODEL 17309 LEYLAND NATIONAL MIDLAND RED
In response to a question asked by a visitor to my site, when speaking with EFE today they advised me that the above model is different to the previous release vehicle 17306. Albeit the subscriber model carries the same registration and fleet number it has a different route and destination from the previous model and also carries legal lettering for BMMO rather than First Midland Red. I understand that there is also a difference on one of the bumpers but this cannot be seen on the nearside photograph on the Subscriber newsletter.

CORGI OOC SCANIA IRIZAR COACH BRIGHTON & HOVE OM46210
Corgi have today sent me two photographs of the latest pre-production version of the above model together with the following text about it:

Photograph 1 CLICK HERE to view
Photograph 2 CLICK HERE to view

This award winning coach has been captured brilliantly in 1:76 scale and with a limited quota of just 1000 pieces is sure to be a great hit upon its release in June.

Since 1993, Brighton & Hove has been a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group plc and has buses running on an intensive network of local routes serving the Brighton and Hove metropolis as well as providing a small coaching until. The Scania Irizar coach was acquired in 2009 and in 2010 won the ‘Route One’ UK livery of the year. Adding to this success it became the face of Brighton & Hove’s 2010 ‘Day’s Out’ brochure and for the ‘UK Coach Award’ winning brochure in 2011. Currently the coach is used on the groups ‘Days Out’ trips as well as being available for hire for special occasions and trips.

MODEL AND HOBBY SHOW - EFE MODEL RELEASED
EFE confirmed today that the model they produced for Subscribers to purchase was on sale yesterday at the Show:
17213A Leyland National West Midlands PTE
Photograph 1 CLICK HERE to view

The model was on sale yesterday at £10.00 to Subscribers. EFE advised they still have a limited stock of these models available. If anyone wants to purchase one please phone EFE 0208 344 6720. Cost of the model will be £10.00 plus £2.25 postage (UK). Out of UK please enquire as to cost of postage.

EFE BRISTOL VRT
You may have noticed that the stock codes of the models on display yesterday were 38101, 38102 and 38104. 38103 was not on display. What is it? My guess is an Eastern National in the traditional green livery (keeping my fingers crossed). I will let you know as soon as I hear anything.

MODEL AND HOBBY SHOW 2012 - REPORT
I am very grateful to Bob Belcher for sending me a report from the show together with photographs of a number of new models and a couple of previously announced ones:

"I took the attached photos through the glass of the display cabinet of some of the forthcoming releases. Most interesting for me were the flat screen VRs including Ribble and Southern Vectis. All the three VR Mk1s so far have attempted to show ECW's cream window rubbers which were used at the time. It's a really difficult thing to do and are possibly too white and too prominent on the models, but a great attempt a prominent authentic feature of the originals.

Besides EFE, the only other bus related items where some of the already released Graham Farish N scale buses. Bachman also had some Hong Kong style trams in Birkenhead museum liveries".

EFE SUBSCRIBER NEWSLETTER
The 2nd Newsletter of 2012 arrived today with some interesting items and 3 new models, I have copied items I felt would be of interested below:

"In my last letter I made mention of the 40th anniversary of the Leyland National and what we are planning to mark the occasion by releasing more Leyland National models. One of my comments has raised some anxiety with a number of subscribers and this relates to very short run’ regionally chosen’ specials. These models will be available equally to all of our subscribers wherever they live. The reason for my’ regional’ reference was based on comments we receive from collectors asking why are specials always from the Southeast and not from other areas of the country.

Details of the first of these short run regional Nationals are on the rear of Issue 2 Release Sheet enclosed with an Order Form in this mailing.

In March we will be attending the Model & Hobby Show 2012 at the Museum of Transport in Coventry and this is the reason we will not have our display at the London Transport’s Acton Open Weekend. Although the Model & Hobby Show is a Trade Fair and not open to the public, we have arranged with the organisers to allow our current Subscribers to attend on the last day of the Show. Entrance to the museum is free and in this mailing you will find all the details on an Invitation Letter, which will allow entrance for you and one guest only. We look forward to meeting our Subscribers at this event where there will be a chance to see some new releases and purchase some special items.

Forthcoming Events
In line with our decision to move our display to events around the country we have arranged to attend the Heritage Transport Show at the Kent Showground, Detling on the 31st of March. After the success of last year’s M& D Centenary event, the M & D and East Kent enthusiast clubs will be involved in this event that has all the promise of a great day out. The Show will include many other events including the 50th Anniversary of the MGB Roadster and the Massey Ferguson 35X Tractor plus the 100th anniversary of AEC Vehicles".

We look forward to meeting all our collectors that are able attend this Event on 31st March".

New models
The newsletter gives details of one standard release model and two subscriber special models:
