PRESS RELEASE FROM THE NORTHCORD MODEL COMPANY
The following press release was received a few minutes ago from the Northcord Model Company:

Statement regarding accuracy of UKBUS0061/0062 models

On receiving the consignment of UKBUS0061/0062 models it became apparent that the factory that produced these had applied the fleet names at an unacceptably inaccurate angle. Accordingly, the models have been returned to the factory for rework to remedy the issue as best as possible. Hopefully the reworked models will be available for public sale shortly and will be more accurate to the actual bus portrayed.

Collectors’ understanding and patience is appreciated while we try to resolve these issues".

PRESS RELEASE FROM NORTHCORD MODEL COMPANY
The following model has been received this morning from the Northcord Model Company:

ADL Enviro400 MMC

UKBUS0061 Reading Buses /
UKBUS0062 Reading Buses Greenline

Following the significant success in launching the brand new casting of the Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC model in the livery of Go-Ahead London, National Express West Midlands, Stagecoach London, Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, and First Bristol, Northcord Model Company is releasing the sixth and seventh versions – UKBUS0061 and UKBUS0062 in the livery of Reading Buses.

UKBUS0061 / 0062 represents fleet number 758 (YX64 VRU), utilising the 10.9 metre, single door casting (the actual bus has 11.5 metre long body), that was new to Reading Buses in 2015. 758 is unique in carrying Reading Buses’ full, standard livery whilst other E400 MMCs in the fleet carry different route brandings. UKBUS0061 also carries the very special UK Bus Awards commemorative adverts on both sides, that read, “proud to run one of Britain’s best bus services”, “proud to be one of Britain’s best bus companies”, “Bus Operator of the Year 2015” and “Shire Operator of the Year 2012-2016”. UKBUS0061 is showing the “generic livery” 758 operating on busy route 17 which runs between Wokingham Road and Tilehurst, a route that had previously featured on the much acclaimed UKBUS9005 that carried full route branding for route 17.

Reading Buses took over operation of “Green Line” route 702 (London Victoria – Bracknell) from First at the end of 2017. As one of the spare buses in the fleet, 758 was allocated to this ‘Green Line’ duty accordingly. UKBUS0062 carries special Green Line banners on each side as a temporary scheme on 758, with the destination at the front displaying “Legoland Windsor 702”.

Further additional details carried by both models include the free wifi logo on the windows on the front and offside, and full rear advertising to promote “cheaper tickets on your phone”.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC UKBUS0061 / 0062 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square, gasket-mounted windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UKBUS0061 / 0062 models is twin tree protectors at the front. The front dome on the model is significant, with curved windscreens on both upper deck and lower deck.

Northcord Model Company is also creating new design standards within the interior of both saloons. These features, inside the compartments, will represent the real, outstanding layout of the Enviro400 MMC, such as the extensive portrayal of handrails on upper deck and lower deck, etc.

The brand new 10.9 metre Enviro400 MMC bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), 80M Bus Model Shop and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS0061 model is limited to 1008 pieces, whilst UKBUS0062 model is limited to 504 pcs worldwide.

Northcord Model Company Ltd (thereafter referred to by the shorthand name “Northcord”) has become increasingly aware of a number of questions, rumours and comments on Social Media that refer to various aspects of Northcord’s status.

We wish, therefore, to clarify the current situation regarding these questions.

“The former toolings that were used by CMNL / NMC were taken away by third parties and are not in the ownership of NMC”.

This is completely untrue. NMC has all former CMNL toolings safely stored at the factory which will produce future models initiated by Northcord.

Secondly, “The old CMNL / NMC toolings are unable to be reused due to damage from inactivity”.

This is also untrue. The older castings are quite able to be reactivated when the time is right and when further liveries are found that will be commercially viable.

PRESS RELEASE FROM BACHMANN
Further to my news of yesterday, the following news release has been received from Bachmann today:

New Releases from EFE announced at Buses Festival

At the Buses Festival held at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon on Sunday 19th August 2018, Bachmann Europe Plc, the owners of Exclusive First Editions (EFE), announced several new models that are currently in development. They include the first all-new tooling to be announced since the company acquired EFE in October 2016.

VOLVO OLYMPIAN/PALATINE I FIRST ALL NEW TOOLING UNDER BACHMANN OWNERSHIP

All-new tooling is being developed for a 1:76 scale Volvo Olympian/Palatine I with single door which will appear in three liveries. These buses were built at Volvo’s Irvine plant in Ayrshire, Scotland between 1992 and 2000 and saw service with many operators both in the UK and overseas.

E41001 – Volvo Olympian/Palatine I – in London Central livery on route 51 to Orpington Station [TFL Official Licensed Product]
E41002 – Volvo Olympian/Palatine I – in London Central Docklands Express livery on route D1 to Waterloo [TFL Official Licensed Product]
E41003 – Volvo Olympian/Palatine I – in Metrobus livery on route 64 to Thornton Heath [TFL Official Licensed Product]

REVISED TOOLING

Under Bachmann ownership several EFE models have been upgraded by adapting the tooling to add body side ribs and wing mirrors and these enhancements have featured on several recent releases. In addition to these enhancements, a new top deck tooling is being developed for use with the existing Leyland Atlantean lower deck tooling to allow models of the ‘Sea Dog’ Leyland Atlantean Open Top bus to be produced.

Nine of these vehicles were built new for Devon General in 1961 for use on their coastal routes such as those around Torbay. They were transferred to the Western National Bus Company who took over Devon General in 1971 and they remained in service with them until 1982. They were subsequently acquired by other operators and remain popular for excursion work in tourist areas. The model will be available in three liveries:

E40602 – Leyland Atlantean Open Top in Ribble livery – Reg. 927 GTA
E40801 – Leyland Atlantean Open Top in Round London Sightseeing Tour (Holman) livery – Reg. 933GTA [TFL Official Licensed Product]
E40802 – Leyland Atlantean Open Top in Cityrama blue livery – Reg. 933GTA

NEW LIVERIES

Four existing models will be appearing over the coming months in new liveries:

E25006 – Bristol RELL Flat Front Type A in Devon General NBC livery on route 374 to Exeter – Reg. POD825H. This model will be available in late September 2018
E16611 – Leyland National (Mark 1 short body, 2-door) – in London Transport Golden Jubilee livery on route 234A to Purley – Reg. THX194S [TFL Official Licensed Product]
E34115 – AEC RT in London Transport livery on route 75 to Catford Garage – Reg. LLU652 (Limited Edition of 800, supplied with certificate) [TFL Official Licensed Product]
E34116 – AEC RT in Brown’s Blue livery with blinds for Coalville via Barwell – Reg. KLB596 (as preserved) .

These vehicles are now available to pre-order from Bachmann stockists.

LONDON BUS REPAINTS AND TRANSFERS (LBRT)
Nigel Mitchell from LBRT has written to advise me that he has a new website. Since he retired in 2016, Nigel has been selling his remaining stock on eBay but has now decided to stop selling via eBay and sell his remaining stock from his new LBRT website.

The LBRT website explains...... "During 2016 I decided to retire and ceased the production of all bus models, during 2017 the owner of Bus Stop Models also decided to retire, and with the closure of their site I once again took over the sale of the transfers using eBay. eBay was a useful and popular outlet for the transfers, but in July 2018 eBay said I had reached my item limit and demanded I upgrade to a much more expensive account with an eBay shop. In response to this problem, I decided to open this online store and offer the transfers directly to customers, it also allows me to offer a lower threshold for free postage as I can now avoid the high eBay fees.

The aim of this site is to clear all the remaining stock of transfers, model parts & model buses. Sadly I will not be producing anymore new transfers or printing any further batches of existing products. When they've gone they've gone for good!"

PRESS RELEASE FROM NORTHCORD MODEL COMPANY
The following press release has been received from the Northcord Model Company:

NEW CASTING

ADL Enviro400 MMC - UKBUS6506 First Bristol

Following the significant success in launching the brand new casting of the Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC model in the livery of Go-Ahead London, National Express West Midlands, Stagecoach London and Stagecoach in Oxfordshire, Northcord Model Company is releasing the fifth version – UKBUS6506 in the livery of First Bristol.

UKBUS6506 is another launch model of the new family of castings and this is the 10.5 metre long version with 1 door.

UKBUS6506 represents fleet number 33960 (SN65ZCU) that has 10.5 metre, single door bodywork and was new to First Bristol in 2016. 33960 carries a full and colourfully branded livery for route 1. The special, comprehensive livery and branding are 100% reproduced onto the UKBUS6506 model. The stand-out features of the branding are, the “up to every 5 minutes” frequency and the prominent route number “1” along with the key locations served that are repeated on the front and both sides. All day, all Bristol fares details are carried on all sides. Further additional details carried by the model include the free wifi logo on the widows on both sides and rear and the special sunlight protection shade on the top of the front upper windscreen.

The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 MMC UKBUS6506 is a one-piece casting whose clean lines accentuate the square, gasket-mounted windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on the UKBUS6506 model is its single tree protector at the front.

The brand new 10.5 metre Enviro400 MMC bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan), 80M Bus Model Shop and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS6506 model is limited to 1200 pieces worldwide.

A SECOND NEW MODEL ANNOUNCED BY JOTUS.COM
jotus.com have today announced a second Optare Spectra resin model. This time featuring Reading Buses fleet number 701 (MRD1) on route 38 to Woodley South Lake. I understand it will be released at the same time as the Demonstrator model announced earlier this week. The model carries the stock code RS76624.

Jotus have advised me that the photographs shown are of a pre-production sample and that some of the colours will be adjusted ahead of production. They also advise that they also hope to apply the chrome wheel covers ahead of production.

As with the Demonstrator, the release date and price have not been advised at this time.
