CREATIVE MASTER NORTHCORD - PRESS RELEASE

The Most Attractive Route Branding Bus Replicas

UKBUS3022 Surrey Connect MPD

UKBUS5105 Travel Coventry

Creative Master Northcord Limited has proudly released two brand new bus replicas representing the most attractive examples of route branding buses in the UK. They are UKBUS3022 Surrey Connect MPD, a Plaxton Mini Pointer-bodied Dennis Dart, and UKBUS5105 Travel Coventry, a Mercedes-Benz Citaro G bendi bus.

UKBUS3022 carries the registration number YT51 EAJ. Surrey Connect is the trading name of Flights Hallmark’s Surrey Bus operations which originated with the small Thames Bus operation formed in 2001 that was sold to Centra in 2003.

From 3rd September 2005, an innovative partnership approach between Flights Hallmark and Surrey County Council saw the funding for routes 426 and 446, operating 7 days a week between the busy towns of Staines and Woking in Surrey, awarded to Flights Hallmark (trading as Surrey Connect) under a new Quality Bus Partnership.

To operate the service, 5 highly specified Dennis Dart buses were acquired from Travel London via Dawson Rentals who are the UK’s leading specialist asset rental business. The vehicles, which are low floor and fully wheelchair accessible, feature individual seating, tinted windows, internal and external CCTV systems, driver’s cab air conditioning and electronic front, side and rear destination displays. As with each of Surrey Connect’s core corridor routes in the Woking area, an attractive route specific branded livery is applied, each having its own route colour.

UKBUS5105 carries Travel Coventry livery, representing fleet number 6020 (BJ03 ETK).

In the continued drive to improve the quality of bus services in the city of Coventry, Travel Coventry introduced a fleet of 10 easy access ‘bendi buses’ in 2003. The Citaros operate on one of Travel Coventry’s primary bus routes, the 27 which runs between Coventry Railway Station and the city’s Walsgrave Hospital. The vehicles are fitted with environmentally-friendly Euro III engines and an eye-catching livery was designed to highlight the “longer than average” bus.

On both UKBUS3022 and UKBUS5105 the clean lines accentuate the square-mounted, gasket / bonded windows and the livery application on which all logos and lettering are clearly legible. Another main feature on each model is the extensive portrayal of handrails. The headlight / indicator units at the front are made of individual components to look more realistic.

The brand new UKBUS3022 Plaxton Mini Pointer-bodied Dennis Dart and UKBUS5105 dual-door Mercedes-Benz G bus models will be distributed by John Ayrey Die-Casts Limited (UK), Porte Publishing Company (Japan) and Concorde Hobby Shop (HK) respectively. The UKBUS3022 model is limited to 1400 pieces worldwide, whilst UKBUS5105 is limited to 2000 pieces worldwide.

ORIGINAL CLASSICS 1/24TH SCALE BEDFORD OB
Original Classics have announced a Bedford OB Coach model which is due for release later this month and will be limited to 500 pieces. The below extract from their web site lists some of the features of the model:
"The superb Limited Edition model is packed with features including working headlights, rear lights and interior illumination , sliding roof, sliding entrance door, twenty seven seats, steerable front wheels, roof quarter lights and an amazing detailed interior. BEDFORD OB COACHES were a very familiar sight on the roads of Britain and other countries during the 1940's to the 1960's and enjoyed an enviable reputation for excellent reliability and passenger comfort. Our model is authentically based on one of the many OB 's operated by ROYAL BLUE with their striking blue and cream livery, they travelled local and long distance routes throughout the UK".

NEWS OF A VERY RARE EFE MODEL
It was recently announced that Arriva had commissioned 350 models of an EFE Routemaster 15635D for their own use (CLICK HERE to view photographs of 15635D).  I am now able to give details of an even scarcer EFE model also commissioned by Arriva.

I am grateful to the LT Museum for providing the following information:
"The RM2217 is especially rare. There were 350 produced, the code is 15635D. The history is unusual. In Autumn 2004, Arriva asked us to produce for them 500 RM's, and they chose RM2217 as the vehicle to be modelled, as it was in Harry Potter 'triple deck' livery at the time and was about to be repainted red for further service. The model was decorated to base Arriva specification. 150 were detailed for Arriva Staff presentation evening (15635C) and the remaining 350 were left on the shelf for further consideration. In  late Summer 2005 it was decided that RM2217 would perform the 'last rites' on Route 159, and the order was placed for the remainder to be suitably decorated. It was too late to order additional models to the same specification to be ready for 9 December. Arriva ordered the majority of the stock for their own internal award/sale use. TfL also ordered a small quantity for their own PR use".

EFE have today given me details of the above model 15635C as follows, I hope to be able to publish photographs of it later in the week:
15635C Routemaster RM
London Transport Red
Fleet number: RM2217
Registration number: CUV 217C
Garage code: BN 141

Route: 159
Destination: Marble Arch
Quantity:150 pieces
Side Advertisments: "Arriva Recognising Peoples Achievements 3 March 2005" (Blue text on white background).

CHATSWORTH BUS RALLY - EFE MODEL
One of the organisers for the Chatsworth Bus rally  has advised me that EFE are going to produce a ECW Olympian, Trent Buses, B713 HVO, in time for the Bus Rally (Chatsworth House, Bakewell, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire) on Sunday 25th June 2006. Due to time constraints I understand that it has not been possible to have a model commissioned exclusively for the show. The model will be a standard release model with stock made available for sale at the Rally.
